This is a stunning, One of a Kind Whimsey made from the 1660 YL An American Legacy Pitcher Mold.
This
series, an American Legacy was one of Fenton's attempts to move into
the decorator market. They contracted with the design team of Frances
and Yale Forman, who were extremely well known during the 1980's, to
develop a line that would be contemporary with the color schemes that
decorators were working with during this time. The answer: An American
Legacy a series of 17 pieces that were fashioned in 3 colors Candleglow,
a canary yellow hue, Amethyst and Federal Blue. The designs, quite
reminiscent of the Federal period in American History, were focused on
relatively plain shapes with a pillar optic. An American Heritage was
part of Fenton's line from 1982 - 1984.
This particular piece,
had it been in the line would have been a Candleglow Pitcher, however
one of the Fenton artisans of the time played with it a little and it
ended up to be a one of a kind whimsey with a completely different
handle than was found on the pieces in the line and a different
configuration of the upper rim as well.
